Satara223, also known as Xodi or simply Satara, was a notorious player on the Beta server. He joined the server on October 9, 2021, and quickly became known for his troublesome behavior, which led to numerous conflicts with other players. Satara223's time on the server was marked by several dramatic incidents, culminating in his ban on July 14, 2022, following a significant griefing event.

History

Early Days and the First Treehouse

Satara223's first major project on the server was a treehouse constructed on October 10, 2021. Located at what is now the intersection of Lake Parade Street and Lakeside Way, this area was at the time considered the outskirts of town. The treehouse quickly became a source of controversy due to its aesthetic design and location. Players on the server were divided in their opinions, with some appreciating the structure's creativity, while others criticized its appearance and placement.

The tension surrounding the treehouse escalated on the very day of its completion. After a brief confrontation with players Swusho, Alexeii__, and xadger, Satara223 set fire to the apartments at 2 and 3 City Square. This act of arson was in retaliation for xadger's unilateral decision to clear and burn down Satara223's treehouse. The server was promptly rolled back to its state before the incident, and the treehouse was demolished shortly thereafter on an unknown date.

Second Treehouse

Following the demolition of his initial treehouse, Satara223 constructed a second treehouse at the future location of Northside Lane 1. This new structure adhered more closely to the server's aesthetic standards and was less controversial. However, it was eventually demolished to make space for xadger's new home. The exact timeline of this demolition is not recorded, but the event further contributed to the growing tensions between Satara223 and other players.

The Diving Bell

Satara223's final and most infamous construction was The Diving Bell, an underwater structure built at the bottom of the town lake. The exact date of its construction remains unknown. Unlike his previous homes, The Diving Bell was not demolished and still exists in a derelict state at the bottom of the lake. The structure has since been ransacked and looted by other players, though some original items remain as they were left when Satara223 was banned from the server.

Involvement with the Crips Gang

For a period, Satara223 was a member of the Crips gang on the server. However, his involvement was minimal, as he was primarily used as a resource mule, tasked with gathering resources for the gang rather than participating in any significant gang activities.

Notable Oddity Structures

In addition to his more conventional homes, Satara223 was known for constructing several oddity structures around the server. Notable among these were:

  • An Aether portal overlooking the town lake, which was a peculiar sight and became a landmark of sorts.
  • A glass encased fire bridge on Lakeside Way, which was decorative but also hazardous, adding to his reputation for building controversial structures.
  • A Herobrine summoning altar inside the house he received from xadger on Cave Street.

Theft and Controversy

Throughout his time on the server, Satara223 was infamous for stealing items from other players. This behavior further alienated him from the community and contributed to the conflicts that ultimately led to his ban.

Banishment

On July 14, 2022, Satara223 was permanently banned from the server after an elaborate and disruptive griefing incident. Due to the unprotected nature of Beta accounts, Satara223 exploited a vulnerability that allowed him to log in to various player accounts on the server.

The July 14th Incident

According to Alexeii__, one of the players whose account was compromised by Satara223:

So about 3 AM AEST, I burned down the village. Or did I?
So it turns out someone else under a Swedish IP, logged into multiple accounts on the server and managed to mimic the way Lucas and I talked, they managed to convince everyone I was on the server, and it was in fact me who was playing.

So what people would have seen was "hey i cant sleep" "so im getting on", and also a user knowing the layout of my base perfectly.
Anyway shortly after "I" burned down the village.

I'm sure you probably guessed where this is going but Xodi/Satara logged in using an exploit which involves the server being set to offline mode, and this lets you type in any users name in your BetaCraft login section, allowing you to play as them basically.
This can only be fixed by having the server set to Online so you must have your Microsoft account connected to BetaCraft otherwise you can't join the server.

And what's even crazier is he would have actually gotten away with it if he used a VPN.

During the incident, Satara223 initially lured Swusho away from the village using his main account, drawing him towards the world spawn via the town railway. He tricked Swusho into "nerdpoling" up, leaving him unable to respond to the unfolding events in the village. Satara223 then switched to the compromised account of Alexeii__ and began burning down the village, attempting to pin the blame on Alexeii__. The incident occurred around 17:00 UTC.

Additionally, Satara223's knowledge of Alexeii__'s base layout was not only due to his time as a Crips member but also because he had secretly dug through the walls from 2 Eastside Court to 1 Eastside Court. He spent considerable time creating a network of tunnels, attempting to reach the Crips' secret underground vault. These tunnels were later used as evidence against him. Today, the tunnels remain but are closed off to the public as evidence, although there are ongoing discussions about opening them as a novelty attraction.

Aftermath

Satara223 was quickly identified as the perpetrator and was unanimously banned from the server. The server was rolled back to its state prior to the incident, resulting in over two hours of lost progress for the players, which caused significant annoyance and frustration within the community.

The severity of the incident, coupled with Satara223's history of disruptive behavior, led to his permanent ban from the server.

Legacy

Despite his relatively short time on the server, Satara223 left a lasting impact. His structures, especially The Diving Bell, serve as a reminder of the turbulent early days of the server. While his actions often disrupted the community, they also played a role in shaping the server's history and the development of its in-game world.
